A Single Thread

Hello, my fellow readers! It has been a while since I have last posted and I apologize. I have been busy with knitting instead of reading...it's hard for me to believe as well! However, knitting has become my new hobby and I am enjoying it. I have already made 4 scarves!

The book that inspired me to knit was by Marie Bostwick, "A Single Thread". The book is about four women, who could not be anymore different from each other, have come together during a time of need. They create a quilting circle to get through the tough time together and form a bond. The character I enjoyed most was Abigail Burgess. She is an older woman who is set in her ways. She has a pocket book bigger than life and instead of giving herself to the community she gives her money. However having her neice come into her life and the other women in this book changes the way she sees things. I think Abigail's character grew the most in this story. This is a definite must read and it will be my book club pick!

This book inspired me to learn to knit. I expressed my feelings towards Marie when I met her for the 'Readers and Ritas' event and she taught me that weekend. It was a highlight for me. Since then I've been picking up my knitting needles instead of a book!

Up next is Kristen Painter's, "Blood Rights".

Stay tuned...
