FIREFLY LANE

Hello my fellow readers! I have finished my book club book for the month, Kristin Hannah's "Firefly Lane". I know they are cliches but, it was a tear jerker and an emotional roller coaster. This is the first book I have read by Kristin and I will be coming back for more. Here is a brief description, but don't worry I will only divulge enough to hook you....
The two main characters Kate and Tully meet when they are young. Kate is the shy, reserved, wallpaper type compared to Tully's outgoing, loves attention, and go-getter personality. Somehow they become each other's rock during that summer and manage to keep in touch when Tully has to leave. Since then their bond has been unbreakable. They deal with what comes their way including first loves, first jobs, and also first heartbreaks. Eventually their lives take them in separate directions where Tully becomes a famous reporter and Kate gets married becoming a stay-at-home mom. However no matter what is going on in their lives they are always able to come back to each other. Until one of them steps over the line and isn't willing to apologize to save the friendship. After a year goes by and one of them faces a life altering situation, she wants her best friend by her side. That's the thing about best friends, no matter what has happened in the past, when it counts they are always by your side. So grab a box of kleenex to have by your side (they'll come in handy) and curl up on the couch and enjoy this great book!!

Next up I'm going to start reading Kathryn Stockett, "The Help". I have heard great things about this book as well and of course people have enjoyed the movie.

2 for 1: Playing Dirty and Only Mine

Hello fellow readers! I finished Susan Andersen's "Playing Dirty". I have to be honest I had a hard time reading this book. To me the book didn't flow like her others. However, the main character's Ava and Cade had a good spark and I liked reading about their story. Their story starts when Cade does something to publicly humiliate Ava in high school. Since then Ava has controlled her issue yet some people in her life have yet to see that. Thankfully she has two great friends who support and believe in her. When Cade comes back into her life she is a well known personal concierge and Cade has hired her while in town. The chemistry between them along with their inner struggles to overcome the past made it enjoyable and worth the time!

Since reading "Playing Dirty" I have already read and finished Susan Mallery's new book, "Only Mine". This is a continuation to her previous Fool's Gold Series. You don't have to read the first 3 books because this new series is about the Hendrix Triplets. Although the previous books are just as enjoyable! "Only Mine" was well written and put together. If you are just starting with this book it gave information on the previous characters she has written in her Fool's Gold series, which was a refresher to me. The heroine, Dakota is dealing with a personal situation that she accepts and makes a plan to get what she wants. Then comes the hero, Finn who comes to town due to his younger brothers. Finn struggles with the realization that his brothers are adults and making their own decisions. When Dakota and Finn get together they are faced to make choices to get what they want. The road is bumpy but well worth the read!

Now I have started reading my new book club book for the month of September. The book that was chosen is Kristin Hannah's, "Firefly Lane". It's about 2 ten year old girls who meet and become friends. Kate is the shy/wallflower girl while Tully is the new popular girl. I am interested to see how their friendship blooms and what struggles they might have to overcome.

LITTLE BEE

Hello my fellow readers! I finished Chris Cleave's "Little Bee". It was an interesting book. It made me think of how I would react in a stressful situation. Would I become the hero or become the loser? Once you read this you will understand what I am talking about. Which role will you play?

I have started reading Susan Andersen's new book "Playing Dirty". This is the 3rd book in this series. The 1st book is "Cutting Loose" and the 2nd book is "Bending the Rules". The stories are about an older woman (who is very high society) Ms. Wolcott who befriends 3 amazing young girls: Janie, Poppy, and Ava. Ms. Wolcott is there for them through anything they might face whether it's a school play or a broken heart. Take the journey and read this series. You won't regret it!

ALL OF ME

Hello my fellow readers! I have finished Lori Wilde's, "All of Me". This is the last of the 'Wedding Veil' series. I like how Lori concluded the series. The main characters in this book were Jillian and Tuck. I am glad that Jillian's story was last because she was the optimistic one when it came to love and happily ever afters. As for Tuck being the hero in this story I'm glad he was able to find closure and deal with the loss of his wife. There was another love story in this book as well, Evie (Tuck's sister) and her husband Ridley. I liked how their story was written. They were going through a difficult time together and I like how Lori portrayed their struggles and how they were able to work it out.

I am straying away from romance at the moment. I am in a book club and I am taking a break to read our book that we picked for the month of August which is "Little Bee" by Chris Cleave. I was invited to join the book club by my sister and am thankful because not only are the ladies amazing but it also gives me a chance to get out of my comfort zone. If you have any books you would like to recommend, please do so. I'm always looking for new authors to read. Once I am done with the book for book club I have not yet decided who I will read next. I have several choices to choose from: Michele Bardsley to Donna Kauffman to Susan Mallery.

Addicted to Love

Hi! I finished Lori Wilde's "Addicted to Love." The character's Rachael and Brody were a great pair. They were both overcoming their emotions from the past and once they did they were able to be together. The other characters I liked in this book was Kelvin Wentworth and Giada Vito. Giada was running to become the new mayor of the town and Kelvin was her opponent and current mayor. They both didn't know what to do with their feelings towards each other, but once they got past the turmoil you need to watch out because sparks flew! Also there was another love story between Rachael's parents, Michael and Selina. They hit a rough patch in their marriage and were struggling to work it out. How Selina dealt with the pain was enjoyable and something everyone woman can relate to who has ever had a broken heart. This is a good read because of all the different love connections!

The last book of the 'Wedding Veil Wishes' is "All of Me." The heroine and hero in this book, Jillian and Tuck have both lost someone important in their lives and are struggling to overcome their grief. The attraction between the two is electric however is it strong enough to build a relationship?

Once Smitten, Twice Shy

Hello! I finished reading Lori Wilde's "Once Smitten, Twice Shy." This is the 2nd book in her 'Wedding Veil Wishes' series. The first book is "There Goes the Bride." I read this book a few months back and the characters in this book are the reason why I am finishing the series. I want to find out what happens to Delaney and her friends.

As for "Once Smitten, Twice Shy," I enjoyed the main characters in this book, Tish and Shane, however the background characters caught my interest more, Cal Ackerman and Elysee Benedict. The underlying passion that these two have for each other is a spark and I'm ready to see what will set it off. I hope that Lori will create their own story in her books to come.

The next book in this series is, "Addicted to Love," which I have already started. I look forward to seeing what Rachael will do next in her attempt to overcome romance and all that it represents, how Brody will climb that ladder (figuratively speaking) to get to her, and how he will overcome his own issues as well.
